We know why you're here. Some company you've never heard of claims to make better headphones than Sony or Bose – at half the price. Sounds too good to be true. And usually it is. But not this time.
We are a 14-person company. We can't afford to pay celebrities to wear our headphones at the airport. Instead, we have thousands of customers who have paid with their own money and have written their reviews without anyone asking them. Or paying them.
What the reviews really say
Valco's products have over a thousand reviews in the online store, and the average hovers around 4.5 stars. But averages are boring. Let's look at what people really write instead.
The most common comment about VMK25-sarja is something like: "I didn't believe it, but these really sound better than the 400-euro headphones I used before." Jasse – our sound designer, whose ears are insured – tunes the sound profile of every model himself. You can hear it.
Another recurring theme is repairability. Customers are genuinely surprised that the pads can be twisted off and replaced yourself. Or that a broken headphone can be sent to service in Kajaani instead of being thrown away.
What about negative reviews?
There are those too, and we don't hide them. The most common complaints:
- ANC is not on par with Sony. True. If you want the absolute best noise cancellation on the market, Sony WH-1000XM5 wins. We win on sound quality and on the fact that you don't have to throw the headphones away after two years.
- The app could be better. That's true as well. A 14-person company doesn't have Apple's app development budget. But the app works, the EQ settings work, and we keep improving it continuously.
- Shipping took a while. Sometimes it does. We're a small company and sometimes stock runs out because demand exceeds what Henri budgets after the Alfa Romeo repair bills. We always state delivery times honestly.
We don't remove bad reviews. If someone gives one star, it appears there among the others. Censorship is for big companies.
Why we are trusted
Not because we're perfect. But because we admit when we're not.
Valco has a 24-month warranty and its own service. If the headphones break, they are repaired. If we mess up, we say so. If a competitor is better at something, we say that too – as we just did above.
We have sold headphones to over 58 countries. In the German market, the reviews are as good as in Finland, which should say something – Germans are not known for being easy to please.
