Classic situation: you clicked 'Pay', the bank took the money, but the online store claims nothing happened. It feels like you tossed bills into a well and hoped for headphones in return. No worries — your money hasn't disappeared, and this will be resolved.
What went wrong?
It's a communication breakdown between the payment service and the online store. In practice, this is what happened:
- You paid. The bank reserved the funds from your account.
- The payment service (Paytrail) tried to tell the online store that the payment succeeded.
- Somewhere along the way the message got lost — maybe the internet connection hiccuped, the browser closed mid-process, or some other digital gremlin struck.
The result: the bank thinks everything is fine, but the online store didn't get the acknowledgement. The order was left in a kind of limbo.
This isn't your fault. Nor really anyone's — except maybe the internet, which is famously an unreliable invention.
How to fix it
Most of the time the money is returned automatically, but let's first check the situation:
- Check your email. Sometimes the order confirmation arrives with a delay. Also check the spam folder — email services like to hide important messages there.
- Wait 1–2 business days. If the payment hasn't actually gone through, Paytrail will refund the money automatically. Your bank may show a reservation that will release on its own.
- Check your online bank. Is it a final charge or just a card authorization? A card authorization looks like a charge, but it isn't final yet.
- Don't place a new order right away. Otherwise you might pay twice, and while we do love money (the Death Star doesn't fund itself), we don't want to charge you twice.
If that doesn't help
If the money doesn't return within a couple of business days and the order doesn't show up:
- Contact us: Send a message to info@valco.fi. Tell us the order number (if you received one) and when you tried to pay. We'll dig into the system to find out what actually happened.
- Contact your bank: The bank can see whether it's a final charge or just an authorization, and can investigate the matter with Paytrail if needed.
We'll get this sorted. Either we'll mark the order as paid and send the Nordell MK3 on its way, or we'll make sure the money returns to you. In either case, you won't be left without your money and your headphones.
Payments are a bit like the Post — they usually work, but every now and then the package takes a mysterious detour before arriving. The difference is that digital money will always find its way home in the end.
