Is the trade-in credit €50 or €60?

Updated Reviewed by Valco's support team

Symptom

The customer has found two different amounts for the recycling programme trade-in credit – €50 and €60 – and wants to know which one is correct.

Quick Fix

The credit depends on which model you send us: VMK20 gives €40, VMK25 gives €60. Up-to-date terms and the form are at valco.fi/pages/anna-vanhat-vaihdossa.

Is the trade-in credit €50 or €60?

Two different amounts for the same credit. No wonder it's confusing. Nobody wants to miss out on a tenner – especially when that tenner belongs to you and not to us. Let's sort this out.

Where does the discrepancy come from?

In Valco's headphone recycling programme, the credit amount depends on which model you send us, not on what you're buying to replace it. For VMK20 the credit is €40 and for VMK25 it is €60. That fifty-euro figure may have popped up in an old message or in the wrong spot on the website, or someone here managed to type it in wrong. These things happen when a small company is trying to take over the world.

The correct amount for VMK25 is therefore 60 euros. We reserve the right to make changes, and you can always find the current amounts on the trade-in programme page.

How to make sure you get the right credit

  • Check the trade-in programme page at valco.fi/pages/anna-vanhat-vaihdossa. You'll find the current credit amount there along with the form to start the trade-in
  • Use the discount code you receive when placing your new order; the code deducts the credit amount from your total
  • Check the code's validity before ordering so there are no unpleasant surprises at checkout
  • Send your old headphones to us following the shipping instructions provided – the recycling programme requires us to receive the old device back

If you were promised €50 in a message somewhere, it was most likely a human error or an outdated price list. We pay the amount stated in the trade-in credit terms: VMK20 €40, VMK25 €60.

If something seems off

If your discount code isn't working, the amount at checkout looks wrong, or something else feels off, drop us a message at info@valco.fi. Include your order number and which code you're using, and we'll get it sorted. No need to guess or do mental arithmetic – we'll handle it for you.

A tenner here or there might not sound like much, but it's still a tenner. That's almost enough for two grilled sausages with mustard. We'd rather pay it to you than keep it ourselves – the Death Star budget can take the hit.

Which devices are eligible for trade-in?

The trade-in credit applies to Valco's own over-ear models. The credit is €40 for VMK20 and €60 for VMK25, and it is given as a discount off a new order.

Competitors' headphones (yes, including that Bose sitting at the back of the drawer) are unfortunately not eligible – we have no reasonable way to refurbish and recycle third-party devices. NL in-ear headphones are also excluded, because the resale value of earbuds isn't enough to make the programme viable.

In practice, here's how it works: fill in the form on the trade-in programme page and you'll receive shipping instructions by email. If anything is unclear, get in touch at info@valco.fi, let us know which model you have and what you're upgrading to.

How do I send back my old device?

Freely: once you've filled in the form and received the instructions by email, send the device to us however you prefer – post, Matkahuolto, or even a carrier pigeon, as long as the parcel arrives. The sender covers the postage for the trade-in shipment. (Warranty service shipments are a different matter: you'll receive instructions and shipping details in the email reply.)
