Nordell MK3 – sound settings and 3D widener

You want to adjust the sound on the Nordell MK3 or you don’t know what the 3D widener does.

Quick Fix

Press the unicorn button (button 3) to cycle through the 3D widener, audiobook mode, or normal mode.

3D widener (3D Surround)

The Nordell MK3 has a 3D widener implemented with the Maxx Audio DSP chip. It doesn’t offer true multichannel surround sound, but it significantly widens the soundstage.

Press the unicorn button (button 3) once: 3D widener on (blue LED).

Press again: audiobook mode (white LED) – clearer voice for podcasts and audiobooks.

Press a third time: back to normal mode (LED off).

When to use which mode

3D widener: great for listening to music, especially when using a single speaker. Gives a wider sound.

Audiobook mode: better for voices – podcasts, audiobooks, Teams calls. Clarifies speech and reduces bass.

Normal: clean, unprocessed sound. The difference is smaller than you’d think, but noticeable.

Note in stereo mode

When two Nordell MK3 speakers are paired in stereo mode, the 3D Surround effect is automatically turned off. In stereo mode you already get a natural soundstage from two speakers.
