The headphones lie on the table like a dead fish. You press the power button, but nothing happens. No lights, no sounds, no signs of life. Familiar situation. The good news: usually it's not death but a deep sleep.
Let's go through what likely caused the situation and how to bring your VMK25 back to life.
Why aren't the headphones responding?
The most common reasons are mundane:
- The battery is completely drained. If the headphones have been sitting in a box unused for a long time, the battery may have drained to zero. In this state the device may not respond immediately when you plug in the charging cable. It needs a moment of "waking up".
- The firmware is stuck. Electronics sometimes do electronics things. The processor has frozen and is waiting for someone to give it a kick.
- The charging cable or charger doesn't work. Cables have a habit of breaking from the inside just when you need them. On the outside everything looks normal, but inside the copper has snapped.
How to fix it
Try these in order:
- Change the charging cable and the charger. First thing. Use a different USB-C cable and a different charger. This rules out the dumbest but most common cause.
- Let the headphones charge undisturbed for 30–60 minutes. If the battery is completely empty, the headphones won't start immediately. Plug in the cable, leave them on the table and go do something else. Brew some coffee. Look out the window. Ponder the meaning of life.
- Reset the headphones. This is the golden trick:
- Plug the AUX cable (3.5 mm) into the headphones
- Unplug it
- This resets the headphones
- Then try to power them on normally
- Try a long press. Hold the power button down for a good 10–15 seconds. Sometimes the device needs a longer-than-usual wake-up.
- Check the charging port. Take a look into the USB-C port. Headphones that travel in a pocket collect lint and dust that prevents proper contact. Clean carefully with a toothpick or compressed air.
If none of that helps
If none of the above wakes the headphones up, there may be a hardware fault. No worries—that’s what our own service in Kajaani is for.
Send us an email at info@valco.fi. Include:
- Order number
- A photo of the headphones (just for identification, it doesn't have to be an art shot)
- A brief description of what you tried
The service team will check the headphones and fix them. We don't throw headphones away—they get repaired. The warranty is 24 months, and under it the repair won't cost you anything.
And even if the warranty has expired, the repair package is still cheaper than new headphones. Somehow the child support and Death Star parts still have to be paid for, but we try to be fair.
