VMK25 should last about 50 hours with ANC on. That’s quite a lot. So much that some customers have used the headphones for half a year and the battery still shows 80% left. If your VMK25 is draining significantly faster, something is wrong — but not necessarily irreversibly.
Why does the battery run out faster?
A few common reasons:
- The software is outdated. Older firmware versions may drain the battery unnecessarily. Updating fixes this surprisingly often.
- Multipoint is on. If the headphones try to maintain a connection to two devices at the same time, the battery is taxed more. Logical, but easy to forget.
- ANC uses more than you think. In a noisy environment, ANC works harder and consumes more power. In a quiet office, you can try turning ANC off and see what happens.
- The charger is wrong. A cheap or faulty USB-C charger may not charge the battery fully even if it looks like it does. Use the original or at least a decent charger.
- The battery is genuinely worn. Lithium-ion batteries age. That’s physics, not a design flaw. After a couple of years of intensive use, capacity inevitably drops. The good news: we fix it.
How to check the situation
- Charge the battery fully with a good charger. Let it charge for 2–3 hours without unplugging in between.
- Try without ANC and multipoint. Listen to your usual music and see how long the battery lasts. If the duration is close to normal, you’ve found the culprit.
- Reset the headphones. Plug in a 3.5 mm AUX cable and unplug it. This resets the Bluetooth chip and can help if some background process got stuck running.
- Measure the actual duration. Charge to full, play music at a normal volume with ANC on and watch the clock. If you get over 40 hours, the battery is fine and the problem lies elsewhere. If you get 15 hours, the battery is faulty.
If that doesn’t help
If the battery drains clearly under 30 hours from a full charge in normal use, the battery is likely defective or worn. At this point, contact us:
- Send an email to info@valco.fi
- Tell us your order number and describe the problem
- Attach a photo of the headphones (just for identification)
If the warranty is valid (24 months), we will repair the device free of charge. Our service in Kajaani will replace the battery and the headphones will return to their former glory. If the warranty has expired, we offer a repair kit — still cheaper than new headphones.
We don’t throw anything away. That’s why these have a replaceable battery instead of a glued blob like the competitors. Building the Death Star takes perseverance — and so does owning good headphones.
