VMK25 snapped – how do I return them?
The headband snapped. Mid-meeting, mid-podcast, or just when you were trying to adjust them to sit more comfortably. Now one side is dangling like a broken wing. No worries. We fix these – that's exactly why we have our own repair shop in Kajaani.
What went wrong?
The VMK25 hinge is a plastic part that takes a serious beating. It gets bent thousands of times, and sometimes it gives up. Could be a material defect, could be bad luck, could be that you adjusted the headband a bit too enthusiastically. Either way, this is usually a fixable thing.
If your headphones are less than 24 months old, the warranty covers material and manufacturing defects. The hinge is exactly the kind of part that shouldn't just snap on its own during normal use.
How to handle the return
- Take a photo of the damage. Doesn't need to be a work of art. Just make sure we can see what's broken.
- Dig up your order number. You'll find it in your order confirmation email. If you can't find it, at least tell us when and where you bought them.
- Send a message to info@valco.fi. Attach the photo and order number. Briefly tell us what happened – "the headband snapped" works perfectly.
- Wait for our reply. We'll send you return instructions and the address. Our repair shop is in Kajaani, so that's where they're headed.
- Pack up the headphones. Preferably in the original case if you've still got it. If not, any box will do as long as you pad it somehow. The postal service isn't exactly known for its gentle touch.
If you have a previous return ID (from last year, for example), it might not be valid anymore. Ask for a new one just to be safe – you'll get it by email.
What if the warranty has expired?
If your headphones are over 24 months old, the warranty won't cover the damage. But we don't throw devices in the bin. You can buy a repair kit, and Jasse or someone else from the repair team will get your headphones sorted. The price is a fraction of a new pair.
It's still worth dropping us a message. If the warranty only just expired, we're only human over here.
If all else fails

The hinge gets fixed, the headphones come back to you, and you can carry on surviving meetings under the sweet protection of ANC. Every repaired pair of headphones is one less pair in a landfill – and another tiny step closer to that Death Star.
