The warranty is gone. The device isn't. Well, maybe it is a little, but that doesn't mean the story ends here.
At Valco, we don't throw headphones in the trash just because some arbitrary date passed on the calendar. We repair devices because that's the core of everything we do. Big corporations want you to buy new headphones every 18 months. We want your money just once – and after that we'll repair the device as many times as needed.
What does the end of the warranty actually mean?
The warranty lasts 24 months. During that time we repair material and manufacturing defects free of charge. After the warranty we still repair, but then it costs.
So in practice, the only difference is who pays for the repair. Our service in Kajaani works exactly the same way regardless of whether there's any warranty time left or not.
One thing to understand though: normal wear is not a fault. If the pads have crumbled after three years, that's physics and not a warranty matter – and not really a repair matter either. The pads can be replaced yourself, and new ones can be ordered from the online store. Twist the old ones off, snap the new ones on. Easier than assembling an Ikea shelf.
How to proceed after the warranty
- Take a photo of the fault. One clear photo is enough. No need to be artistic.
- Dig up the order number. You'll find it in the order confirmation email. If you can't find it, tell us the name and email you used to order, and we'll dig it up.
- Send a message to info@valco.fi. Tell us what broke and attach the photo.
- The repair has a fixed price, currently €69
- You send the device to service in Kajaani. Hannes or someone else from the service team will work their magic.
The repair package covers the labor and necessary parts as well as the shipping costs both ways.
What if the issue is minor?
You don't have to send everything to service. Many things can be handled at home:
- Pads worn out? Order new ones from the online store and replace them yourself. They come off by twisting.
- Bluetooth acting up? Restart the headphones and the phone. On older models, plugging in and unplugging the AUX cable performs a reset.
If that doesn't help
Send an email to info@valco.fi. Include a photo, the order number, and a brief description of what happened. We reply on weekdays and often surprisingly fast.
We don't promise eternity – electronics are electronics. But we promise that we'll fix what can be fixed, and we'll tell you honestly if it can't. Every repaired headphone is one less in a landfill and one small slice closer to that Death Star.
