VMK25 headband is broken—how to fix it?
So, the headband broke. Unfortunate, but not the end of the world. This is one of those situations where Valco’s repair philosophy shines—we don’t throw anything away if it can still be saved. Valco headphones have traveled with our customers from the USA to Australia and endured all sorts of things, but sometimes physics wins.
What went wrong?
The headband is the part that connects the earcups. It withstands normal use just fine, but excessive twisting or a drop at the wrong angle can break it. Plastic parts simply don’t flex forever—not ours, nor anyone else’s.
Typical causes:
- Too much pulling or twisting — an earcup was hanging off a backpack strap and something snagged
- Dropped onto a hard surface — the floor always wins
- Screws loosened over time — and then the whole structure fails at once
Whatever the reason, this is repairable.
How to fix it
Repairing the headband requires spare parts, so unfortunately tinkering at home with a roll of tape won’t cut it. Do this:
- Take a photo of the broken area — we’ll immediately see which part is needed and how bad the situation is
- Find your order number — it’s in the order confirmation or in your account on Valco’s online store
- Send both to info@valco.fi — briefly tell us what happened
The service team will look at the photo to see whether just the headband and a couple of screws are enough or if something else is needed. If there’s still warranty left (24 months from purchase) and it’s a material or manufacturing defect, it’s handled under warranty. If the headphones flew onto concrete under their own weight or were twisted a bit too enthusiastically, then we’re talking about a repair package—but that won’t cost a fortune either.
If that doesn’t help
If the headband isn’t the only problem or the headphones look otherwise battered, send the device to service in Kajaani. The service team will go through the whole package and fix everything at once. You’ll get the service instructions and the shipping address in the reply when you contact us.
You can also visit our support site at valco.support or send inquiries, snark, complaints, and praise to info@valco.fi.
Valcos are built to last, and even though parts sometimes fail, that’s fine—that’s what our service is for. Every repaired pair of headphones is one less on the landfill and a few centimeters closer to that Death Star.
