Where can I get white earpads for VMK20?
Earpads wear out. It’s a law of physics, not a manufacturing defect. When you press fabric against your head for hundreds of hours, at some point the material starts to look like a dog used it as a chew toy. White pads especially collect the marks of life faster than a festival wristband.
Good news: VMK20 earpads are replaceable. That’s exactly why we designed them that way.
Where can I get them?
White earpads for VMK20 can be found in the spare parts section of the valco.fi online store. Go to valco.fi, find Spare Parts, and select VMK20 earpads. The white color option is there if it’s in stock.
If the online store says ‘sold out’ or white isn’t on the list, send a message to info@valco.fi. Tell us what you need and we’ll see what we can do. Stock levels vary — as a small company we don’t keep every color on the shelf indefinitely.
How to replace them?
Replacing the earpads is so easy you can manage it without an engineering degree:
- Remove the old ones — grab the pad by the edge and twist it off. It releases from the clip mount. No need to yank it.
- Press the new ones into place — align the new pad with the same groove and press the edges in all the way around. You’ll hear a small click when the clip catches.
- Check the seal — press the headphone against your ear. If ANC seems to work properly and the bass isn’t leaking, the pad is seated correctly.
The whole operation takes about 30 seconds per side. You can do it on a coffee break.
Is earpad wear normal?
Yes it is. Earpads that have seen over a year of active use will inevitably soften, compress, or tear at the seams. That’s not a warranty issue, it’s normal wear and tear — just like shoe soles wear down when you walk.
If the pads fall apart within a few months of purchase, that’s a different story. It could be a material defect, and the warranty covers it. Send us a photo and your order number and we’ll sort it out.
By the way, a fresh pair of pads also improves ANC performance. Compressed cushions let sound leak around the edges, so noise cancelling can’t do its job properly. If ANC has seemed to get worse over time, new earpads might solve the whole problem.
If that doesn’t help
If you can’t find the pads in the online store or you’re not sure which model fits your headphones, send an email to info@valco.fi. Tell us your headphone model and which color you want, and we’ll guide you further.
And if there’s anything else wrong with the headphones besides the pads — the sound crackles, ANC is acting up, or Bluetooth cuts out — mention that as well. Our service team in Kajaani will fix the whole package at once so you don’t have to ship the device back and forth multiple times. Every repaired headphone is a small win for the Death Star’s construction budget.
