Need spare parts for old VMK20 headphones – are they available?
The VMK20 was many people's first Valco experience, and a damn good one at that. A fabric-covered classic that still sounds like it just came out of the box – even though the cushions look like the dog's been using them as chew toys. We know the situation. The headphones sound great, but the looks and comfort have seen better days.
Let's cut to the chase: the VMK20 has been discontinued, and there's no longer a standard spare parts selection for it in the online store.
Why can't I find spare parts?
The VMK20 was a brilliant device in its day, and still is for many. But when a model gets discontinued, spare parts production eventually stops too. We can't keep every part for every model in stock forever – even if we wanted to. Our Kajaani warehouse isn't quite Death Star-sized. Yet.
Fabric-covered ear cushions are especially tricky because they naturally wear out with use. That's not a defect, it's physics: sweat, skin oils, and time do their thing. After a year or two of active use, the cushions start to deteriorate, and that's completely normal.
What can you do?
Don't chuck the headphones in the bin. We're Valco, not Apple.
- Send us a message at info@valco.fi. Tell us which model you've got (VMK20) and what parts you need. Throw in a photo of the situation so we can see what we're dealing with right away.
- We'll check our stock. Sometimes old parts are still lurking in the back of the shelves. No promises, but we'll have a look.
- Third-party cushions might fit. Some customers have found compatible cushions on Amazon or AliExpress, for example. We can't guarantee the fit, but it won't cost you an arm and a leg to try.
- Repair service in Kajaani can help if the issue is mechanical – like a cracked ear cup shell. Our team will see what can be done.
What if spare parts can't be found anywhere?
If your VMK20 has reached the end of the road and parts simply don't exist, we've got an option:
- Trade-in credit towards a newer model. Ask our customer service if we're offering trade-in credit towards, say, the VMK25 or VMK25.2. Upgrading from an old VMK20 to a newer model is like swapping a Lada for a Ferrari – except in this case you can actually afford it.
We want Valco headphones to last as long as possible. That's why we have our own repair service, that's why we sell spare parts, and that's why we fix devices. But we can't support every model forever. That would be physically impossible – unless someone funds that Death Star a bit faster.
If nothing helps
Shoot us an email at info@valco.fi. Include your order number if you can find it, attach a photo, and briefly describe the situation. We'll figure out the best solution together – whether that's a spare part, a repair, or an upgrade to a newer model.
Headphones are made for listening, not for collecting dust on a shelf. We'll help keep them in action for as long as we possibly can.
