The VMK15 is a straightforward device, and pairing it is just three-second button holds, back to back. Here's the full setup from start to finish, plus a few things worth knowing upfront so you're not left scratching your head later.
First power-on and pairing
- Charge the headphones fully first (USB-C, standard 5V/2A charger, no fast chargers).
- Power on: hold the MFB button (the middle button on the left earcup) for about three seconds.
- Keep holding for another three seconds, the headphones will switch into pairing mode.
- Open your phone's Bluetooth settings and select "Valco VMK15".
- If it asks for a PIN, it's 0000.
- Done. From now on the headphones will connect automatically to whichever device you last used.
Adding a second device (multipoint)
The VMK15 supports two devices via sequential pairing:
- Turn off Bluetooth on the first device.
- Pair the headphones with the second device using the steps above.
- Turn Bluetooth back on on the first device.
The headphones are now connected to both, but they only play from one source at a time. If a paired device drops out of range, the headphones will keep beeping after it. Forget the device from its Bluetooth menu and the beeping stops.
Good to know from the start
- All the buttons are on the left earcup. The left side of the headband has braille dots, so you can tell the sides apart in the dark.
- ANC has its own dedicated button: a green light inside the earcup means ANC is on.
- There is a factory reset: hold Vol+ and Vol− down together for about five seconds. If the connection gets confused, reset and pair again. More detailed instructions here.
- With the AUX cable the headphones work in wired mode. The ANC button still works, but you adjust the volume from the source device.
If pairing doesn't work
- Make sure you held the MFB button long enough, six seconds total is longer than it feels.
- Remove any old "Valco VMK15" pairing from your phone and try again.
- Charge the headphones for 30 minutes and try once more.
- Try a different phone, that'll tell you which end the problem is on.
