Nordell MK3 won't draw power from the charger
The red LED is flashing like an ambulance light, but the speaker isn't charging. A familiar situation. This is one of those problems that usually has a simple explanation—but sometimes it's a real fault. Let's go through both possibilities.
Why is the red light blinking?
The Nordell MK3's red LED indicates that the speaker recognizes the charger but isn't getting enough power from it. Or the battery has reached the end of its life. There are a few reasons:
- Wrong charger or cable. MK3 wants a 5V/3A power supply. Cheap cables and low-power chargers cause exactly this symptom. The speaker tries to charge, doesn't get enough juice, and the red light blinks rapidly.
- A dirty USB-C port. A speaker that has spent a couple of years in pockets, on the beach, and on the patio collects dust, sand, and other debris in the port. The contact is incomplete.
- The battery is dead. Lithium batteries have a limited lifespan. If the speaker has been used for a couple of years—and especially if it has sat empty for a long time—the battery may have dropped so low that it won't wake up again.
- A circuit board fault. Rarer, but possible. The charging circuit may have been damaged, for example, by the wrong charger or moisture.
How to fix it
Try these in order:
- Change the cable and charger. Use the original USB-C cable and a charger that delivers at least 5V/3A. The 1A phone charger that came in the box is not enough. This solves a surprising number of cases.
- Clean the USB-C port. Take a toothpick or a small brush and carefully clean out the port. Do not use metal—it can short the contacts.
- Leave the device on the charger longer. If the battery has run completely flat, the speaker may need 15–30 minutes on the charger before it even responds properly. A deeply discharged battery wakes up slowly.
- Try a different power outlet. Sounds silly, but sometimes the extension cord's fuse has blown or the outlet is faulty. It wouldn't be the first time.
If the red LED turns blue while charging, everything is fine. Blue light = battery full.
If that doesn't help
If none of the above works, it's most likely a battery or circuit board fault. This is where the Kajaani service team needs to step in.

With us, headphones and speakers are repaired, not thrown away. If the device is within the warranty period (24 months) and it's a material or manufacturing defect, the service is of course free. Outside the warranty, we offer a repair package—and even that is cheaper than buying new.
And if the speaker has survived two years of Finnish summer, sauna, and possibly a few drops into a swimming pool, it's done pretty well. Just send it to service now, and we'll get it back in shape to help fund the next batch of Death Star construction materials.
