Right NL25 earbud won't connect via Bluetooth?

Updated

Symptom

The right NL25 earbud does not connect to the device via Bluetooth, even though the left earbud connects and works normally.

Quick Fix

Remove the earbuds from your phone's Bluetooth settings, perform a factory reset with the case button (lid open, press for 5 seconds), and pair again.

Classic scenario: the left bud sings like a little bird, but the right one is as mute as a fish. No worries — this is usually a pairing error, not a hardware issue. In the NL25, the left bud acts as the host that connects the right bud to itself and then talks to your phone. Sometimes this chain breaks, and the right bud just spins around on its own like a drunk uncle on the dance floor.

Why won't the right earbud connect?

In NL25 earbuds, the left bud's job is to establish the Bluetooth connection to your device and keep the right bud along for the ride. If the pairing process has gotten mixed up at some point — say the earbuds accidentally paired with another device, or a reset was left halfway — the right bud may think it's still in pairing mode with something else.

Another common reason: protective film on the contacts. If the earbuds are new, make sure you've removed the small protective films from the buds' charging points. With them on, the bud won't charge properly in the case, and with an empty battery it won't connect to anything.

How to fix it

  1. Check charging. Place both buds in the case and make sure they are charging. Pressing the case button shows the battery level. Let the buds charge for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Remove the old pairing from the phone. Go to the phone's Bluetooth settings, find NL25 and choose "Forget device" or "Unpair." This is an important step — don't skip it.
  3. Factory reset. Put both buds in the case. Open the lid. Hold the button on the bottom of the case for five seconds. The buds' LED lights will flash — that's when the reset is done.
  4. Pair again. Open the case near the phone. The buds will automatically enter pairing mode. Select NL25 from the phone's Bluetooth list.
  5. Test both. Play some music and make sure sound comes from both.

If the right bud still doesn't come back to life, try one more trick: take only the right bud out of the case and press and hold its touch surface for three seconds. Put it back in the case. Repeat the reset.

If that doesn't help

If the right bud still won't connect after the reset, the fault may be in the buds' Bluetooth module or the battery. In that case we have two options:

  • Warranty repair — If the headphones are under 24 months old, send us a photo of the device and the order number to info@valco.fi. The technicians in Kajaani will take care of it.
  • Single earbud — Yes, you can also buy just the right (or left) earbud separately from us. Contact customer support and we'll check availability.

The Vincent van Gogh mode (using a single bud) works as an emergency workaround in the meantime — but listening with two ears is better than with one. That's just a fact.

Still stuck?

We get it — technology should just work. If these steps didn't help, our support team is ready. Include the following when reaching out:
